Reason #1 – Varied Hues for a Happy, Harmonious Home

Greens, blues, reds, yellows. Where do you begin? Choosing the right colors for your home can either evoke feelings of calm and serenity or inspire energy.

If you want to infuse peace and relaxation in your home, consider using the color blue in your master suite. Blue can be as peaceful as the summertime sky or serene as the sound of ocean waves.

If it’s high energy you are after, consider the use of the color red. It’s passionate, stimulating, and energetic. This is why it is the preferred color for restaurants. It stimulates appetite and encourages great conversation. The color red provokes the strongest emotion of any color so I wouldn't recommend painting your bedroom this color. You could end up extremely hungry and tired all the time.

Reason #2 – Personality-Filled Patterns for a Stunning Space

To easily transform any space or to create color harmony, simply add some pops of color or interesting patterns to your drapes, pillows, and area rugs. When done correctly, it keeps the eye scanning the room, it creates visual interest, and it adds a little or a lot of personality to your space.

Reason #3 – Combining Colors & Patterns for Inspired Interiors

Colors and patterns work well together to create design harmony in the home. And when the interiors elicit peace and harmony, the home just feels put together and at ease.

Working with a client of mine, whose daytime job was somewhat hectic, she wanted to create a space in her home where she could relax and unwind after a long day on her feet.

We chose to begin in the master suite using her favorite colors white, blue, and emerald greens. She loved chevron prints, so we easily incorporated these prints in the bedroom and bathroom to tie the two rooms together.

When consulting with your clients to select the perfect mix of colors or patterns, it’s important to listen carefully to those power words they use like warm, inviting, and welcoming. Those phrases immediately tell me I should be looking at a color palette leaning more towards the warm side of the color wheel. On the other hand, if they are wanting a space that is classy & elegant, I would enlist a cooler color like the lighter purples as they are delicate in nature & evoke romance.

Is there a pattern or color palette you've been crushing on lately? We want to see it! Share with us in the comments below.

Warmly,
